A dental extraction is a procedure in which a tooth is carefully removed from its socket in the jawbone. Dentists always aim to preserve natural teeth whenever possible, but in some cases removing a tooth is the best option to protect your overall oral health, relieve pain, or support future dental treatment.

Extractions are performed using local anesthesia to keep you comfortable during the procedure. Depending on the condition of the tooth, the dentist may gently loosen and remove it or perform a surgical extraction if the tooth is broken, impacted, or difficult to access.
