Implant Crown
What Is an Implant Crown?
An implant crown replaces the visible part of a missing tooth. Instead of sitting on a natural tooth like a traditional crown, it attaches to a dental implant placed in the bone.
There are three parts:
Implant: The titanium root placed in the bone
Abutment: The connector between the implant and crown
Implant Crown: The tooth you see and use when chewing and smiling
Because implants don’t contain nerves, they won’t feel hot or cold like natural teeth. This is normal and one reason why careful bite adjustment is important.

How Implant Crowns Are Attached
There are two common ways to secure an implant crown:
Screw-Retained Crowns
A small screw holds the crown in place. The access hole is sealed with tooth-colored material. These crowns are easy to remove if maintenance is needed.
Cement-Retained Crowns
The crown is cemented to the abutment similar to a traditional crown. This option can offer excellent aesthetics since there is no small access opening.
Your dentist selects the best option based on implant position, bite forces, and available space.

Benefits of Implant Crowns
Protect nearby teeth: No need to reshape adjacent teeth like with a bridge
Natural appearance: Modern materials blend seamlessly with your smile
Long-lasting solution: Strong materials designed for everyday function
Easy to maintain: Clean and care for them much like natural teeth
Implant crowns are one of the most reliable ways to restore a missing tooth while maintaining both function and appearance.
